Procter & Gamble Announces Organizational Changes

CINCINNATI, Jan. 20, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- The Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE: PG) today announced the following organizational changes:


  • Steven W. Jemison (58), chief legal officer, will retire effective September 30, 2010, after more than 29 years of service.  Until his retirement, Mr. Jemison will serve as Officer on Special Assignment, reporting to Bob McDonald, chairman of the Board, president and chief executive officer.


  • Deborah Platt Majoras (46), currently senior vice president and general counsel, has been elected chief legal officer and secretary, succeeding Mr. Jemison effective February 1, 2010.

"He has distinguished himself in labor and employment law.  He's demonstrated remarkable capability by leading in Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa – an especially complex legal environment – and by helping to guide P&G's Beauty business through a rapid decade of growth that included numerous acquisitions and divestitures.  He worked with P&G's Board of Directors as Secretary during a period of significant external changes in governance and reporting.  And he has led P&G's Global Legal organization to leave an enduring legacy.
