EXPERT ALERTS:
Digital Payment Fraud: From EMV Chips to Tokenization in Mobile Wallets
Matt Herren
Product Manager
Computer Services Inc.
Paducah, KY
"Although the switch to EMV marked a significant milestone against fraud, the increased level of security primarily protects against in-person fraud and theft. Fraudsters are working diligently to outsmart payments technology, moving from point-of-sale fraud to a more vulnerable arena: card-not-present (CNP) transactions. Most consumers who pay bills, frequently shop online, or use Apple Pay or Samsung Pay are already familiar with CNP transactions. Here, EMV does not apply, since there is no physical reader to ensure the chip credentials are valid. Instead, payments providers are turning to tokenization to provide stronger protections for both mobile payments and CNP transactions online. Tokenization is a natural progression from EMV that limits access to vital card information, and keeps payment and account data secure."
Herren is the author of Adapting to the Evolving Digital Payments Landscape (whitepaper), and has also contributed to numerous blogs and articles on the topics of digital payments, tokenization, and security for publications including CBInsight and BankNews Learning Points. His session at the Merchant Risk Council Annual Conference was covered in the article "No Easy Answers as E-Retailers Contend With Compounding Payments Developments" (Digital Transaction).

Unconventional Job Searching Tips and Strategies
Ryan McCormick
Co-Founder
Goldman McCormick Public Relations
"In unconventional economic times, conventional thinking may actually limit all of the doors that could be opening for you."
McCormick is available to share tips to help job seekers land a position, including: 1) Stop sending Word résumés as a file attachment. Sometimes they get caught in email spam filters. You're better off pasting your résumé in the base of the email so it can be read from a smartphone. 2) Create an online résumé through WordPress. Some people are very visual, and when you show that you're much more than just words on a résumé, you open the possibility of connecting with them on many other levels. 3) Write a handwritten thank you card after the interview. It's a real nice touch and will make you stand out, as people rarely do this.
