Is It Really Sexual Harassment? 4 Questions to Ask
Ken Cooper
Sexual Harassment Prevention Trainer
CooperComm, Inc.
"With these questions, it's easy to figure out where the line is, and how not to go near it. Just ask yourself any of these four questions and it becomes obvious. 1) Is it OK to do? If you wonder about it, then by definition, it isn't. 2) Would you mind it being publicized? Would it bother you to have a picture and a caption of your actions on the front page of 'The Wall Street Journal' or on the home page of MSN.com? If so, don't do it. 3) Would you do it in front of an important person? Would you do it to your CEO's spouse at a meeting? A policeman's spouse at a party? A giant football player's date at a bar? In front of your own significant other? No? Then don't do it at all. 4) Why would you need to do it? What business process required it? If there isn't a business reason for your action, don't do it."
Cooper is President and Founder of CooperComm, Inc., a consulting firm with extensive experience providing sexual harassment prevention training to a wide range of private- and public-sector organizations. A body language expert, Cooper has authored several books, including Stop It Now: How Targets & Managers Can End Sexual Harassment and BodyBusiness: The Sender's and Receiver's Guide to Nonverbal Communication. He earned his Masters at the University of Missouri, Columbia and is also a graduate of the IBM/Harvard Advanced Business Institute. A longtime sexual harassment researcher, speaker and prevention consultant, Cooper has conducted hundreds of seminars for tens of thousands of attendees, sharing his unique research-based tools for preventing harassment, changing behavior, and maximizing workplace productivity.

What Employers Can Learn from the Weinstein Case
Jed Marcus
Principal
Bressler, Amery & Ross
Florham Park, NJ
In the wake of the Weinstein case and the #MeToo movement, employers have become more introspective, examining their own policies, situations, and how to handle them. Says Marcus: "As the Weinstein case shows, a company's reputation, even survival, will often depend on its ability to effectively and credibly respond to allegations of discrimination and harassment against high ranking executives. Burying harassment complaints by paying victims off with monetary settlements but failing to deal with the harasser is not the answer."
Marcus is the chair of Bressler Amery's Labor & Employment practice. He recently wrote an op-ed on the topic, which was featured on New Jersey Law Journal (https://www.law.com/njlawjournal/sites/njlawjournal/2017/11/07/responding-to-harassment-complaints-what-the-harvey-weinstein-case-can-teach-us/). He is also available to discuss a wide range of labor and employment law topics. He has also received recognition by Best Lawyers in America eight years in a row.

SEC Focusing on Cybersecurity
Denver Edwards
Principal
Bressler Amery & Ross
Cyberattacks and breaches are commonplace, so it is no longer if there will be an attack, but when. Given this current reality, the SEC is continuing to make cybersecurity a priority. "The Commission is concerned about hacking to access material, non-public information; account intrusions to conduct manipulative trading; and disseminating false information … to manipulate stock prices."
Edwards was formerly an attorney at the SEC. At Bressler Amery, he is a principal in the securities practice and can discuss a range of securities law issues. He can also discuss legal issues relating to cybersecurity. He has written bylined articles and given interviews on these topics.

Protecting Seniors from Financial Exploitation
Richard Szuch
Principal
Bressler, Amery & Ross
Florham Park, NJ
While the exact definition of financial exploitation varies from one jurisdiction to another, it generally involves the misuse or taking of assets from a susceptible party without their explicit knowledge or consent. One of these affected populations is the aging Baby Boomers. Says Szuch: "Roughly 10,000 baby boomers will turn 65 each day for the next 12 years. With such numbers, it should be no surprise that financial exploitation costs 'seniors'—generally defined as those who are 65 and older—at least $2.9 billion annually. For years, the financial industry has grappled with how to best protect seniors and vulnerable adults from exploitation."
Szuch recently spearheaded the formation of a new practice aimed at addressing financial issues relating to baby boomers. Recently, his article on the topic was published on Financial Advisor Magazine (https://www.fa-mag.com/news/what-is-being-done-to-help-avoid-financial-exploitation-of-seniors-35167). He has also received recognition by Best Lawyers in America eight years in a row.

- FIVE QUESTIONS WITH ZIG'S CEO AND CO-FOUNDER. With the debut of Zig, entrepreneur Joshua James wants to change the way people engage with and consume the news. Along with co-founders Adam Platzner and John Tornow, James launched the compelling new media platform earlier this month, and it's already garnering big attention. Former Vanity Fair Editor-in-Chief Graydon Carter, music producer Quincy Jones, and Live Nation are just some of the high-profile players backing the venture. For Carter, this is his first public project since leaving his post at Vanity Fair. In a recent news release, Carter says he wants to help the team how he can and believes the app "will find a wide and dedicated audience." That's likely because Zig promises to shake up the current ecosystem -- one that has delivered mixed results for publishers in the past. Read more: http://prn.to/2EspW0W
