Prostate Cancer Accounts For 1 In 4 New Cancer Cases In U.S. Men

WASHINGTON, Jan. 9, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Prostate cancer continues to be the most common cancer in men, accounting for about 1 in 4 new cases, according to data recently published in CA: A Cancer Journal for Clinicians. The estimated number of new cases and estimated deaths from prostate cancer both decreased slightly for 2014, by 3 percent and 1 percent, respectively.

Prostate cancer continues to be the second most deadly cancer in men, accounting for 10 percent of estimated new cancer deaths in 2014. The report estimates that 233,000 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer this year, and 29,480 will die from the disease.
