ProTek Devices' TVS Arrays for Automotive Deliver Industry Best Combo Load Dump and Clamping Voltage Performance

TEMPE, Ariz., Dec. 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- ProTek Devices™ has introduced a new family of transient voltage suppressor arrays (TVS arrays) that provide circuit protection in various automotive infotainment and other automotive systems. The new PAM8S series provides an industry best combination of surpassing ISO 16750-2:2010(E) load dump testing while also delivering an industry-leading lowest clamping voltage at 48.4 volts. The PAM8S series consists of 15 high-power TVS arrays covering a range of reverse stand-off voltage needs, from 14.0 to 43.0 volts.

Primary applications for this series of circuit protection components include the digital audio tuner, the entertainment system, navigation system and other such vehicle electronics systems. ProTek Devices' PAM8S series is AEC-Q101 qualified for automotive applications. The operating junction temperature is good to 175 degrees Celsius, a capability suitable for very high reliability and automotive requirements. The components boast a junction passivation optimized design with passivated anisotropic rectifier technology. In addition, the PAM8S series provides unidirectional configuration, a low forward voltage drop, and high surge capability.

It provides 6600 watts of peak pulse power per line (typical = 10/1000 micro seconds). These automotive circuit protection components also meet requirements for the ISO 7637-2 surge specification (varied by test condition) and for MSL level 1 LF (per J-STD-020) with a maximum peak of 245 degrees Celsius. In addition, the parts are RoHS and REACH compliant.

The components are offered in a DO-218AB package at an approximate weight of only 2.58 grams. The terminals are matte tin plated leads and can be soldered, per J-STD-002 and JESD 22-B102. The solder reflow temperature is 260 degrees Celsius for 10 seconds at terminals. For polarity, the heatsink is anode. The PAM8S series also has a flammability rating of UL 94V-0.

Pricing and Availability
ProTek Devices' PAM8S series is now available in mass quantities. Pricing varies by amounts, with reel sizes starting at minimum quantities of 750 per reel. This is per 24mm tape and reel, EIA standard 481. The components can be acquired via a local authorized distributor or directly from ProTek Devices.
