LONDON, June 7, 2010 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- In interviews broadcast on financial broadcaster http://www.cantos.com, the Prudential's top team outline the detail around the bid for AIA, trading in the first five months and the future direction for the insurance group.
Tidjane Thiam, Group Chief Executive, describes his disappointment at the failure of the AIA deal.
"We put to AIG a proposal, which the AIG management accepted and took to their Board, who turned it down. That was to our disappointment."
While Chairman Harvey McGrath concedes a minority of top shareholders are calling for change but says the majority are happy with the top team.
"They do not want to see change because they share the same view that this is a team that they would like to see lead this business forward, focused on growth and shareholder value creation."
