PSE&G Energy Efficiency Programs Deliver Nearly $720 Million in Annual Utility Bill Savings and Additional $740 Million in Rebate Savings to New Jersey Customers

NEWARK, N.J., Aug. 4, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- New Jersey customers are saving money and energy through the PSE&G energy efficiency programs. Our latest Clean Energy Future-Energy Efficiency (CEF-EE) report highlights how our programs continue to deliver meaningful savings for customers while reducing overall energy usage and supporting the state's goals.  Through March 2025, nearly 465,000 customers have actively participated in PSE&G's energy efficiency initiatives, collectively saving over $720 million annually[i] on their utility bills.

These results reflect a range of efforts aimed at helping customers reduce both their energy use and costs—from home energy assessments to rebates on energy-efficient appliances, HVAC systems, and products available through the PSE&G Marketplace. Since the start of the program, customers have received approximately $740 million in rebates, delivered as either instant discounts at the point of purchase or post-purchase rebates, helping to offset the cost of energy-saving upgrades.

Additionally, participation to date includes:

• More than 95,000 home energy assessments completed
• Over 140,000 rebates claimed for upgrades to energy-efficient appliances
• More than 24,000 appliances recycled, and;
• Approximately 340,000 smart thermostats and 100,000 power strips purchased through the PSE&G Marketplace

Our energy efficiency programs for businesses are also delivering strong results, helping commercial customers lower energy use and operating costs through a range of practical business solutions. To date, these programs have helped more than 18,500 businesses implement approximately 28,000 projects that improve operational efficiency, enhance comfort, and manage expenses.

Participation in the Small Business Direct Install program remains strong, with more than 1,500 small businesses projected to save approximately $19 million annually[ii] on energy costs. This program helps make energy-saving improvements more affordable for smaller businesses by reducing upfront costs and delivering long-term savings.

Together, our residential and business customers are on track to save approximately 2.8 million megawatt-hours of electricity annually—enough energy to power over 406,000 homes[iii] each year. Natural gas savings are expected to exceed 75 million therms per year. Combined, these efforts are projected to help avoid approximately 2.1 million metric tons of carbon emissions annually.

We also remain focused on expanding access to clean energy careers through the Clean Energy Jobs Program, where more than 4,100[iv] individuals have been placed in clean energy roles, helping to build the state's skilled workforce of the future. Additionally, our energy efficiency programs have also been recognized with 75 industry awards for excellence in program delivery, workforce development, and marketing.

We understand managing energy costs can be challenging, which is why affordability remains a top priority for PSE&G. In addition to helping customers save through energy efficiency, we recognize that broader supply and demand challenges also impact energy costs across the state.

As affordability remains an ongoing concern, New Jersey should seek to address one of the main drivers of this year's electric supply increase – a lack of forecasted electric supply. The demand for electricity is forecasted to continue to grow, and supply is not keeping up with this demand.
