TOKYO, July 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- PubMatic, the programmatic advertising platform for leading publishers, today announced the appointment of Yosuke Maekawa in the newly created role of Country Manager Japan. The appointment follows PubMatic's entry into the Japanese market in January with strategic partner So-net Media Networks, part of the So-net Corporation, and the launch of a localized platform in April.
Rob Jonas, Chief Revenue Officer at PubMatic comments: "Japan continues to be a huge focus for PubMatic as we increase our presence across Asia Pacific. Yosuke's appointment comes at a time when programmatic ad spend in Japan is set to skyrocket."
Japan is forecast to become the second largest country to spend programmatically in the world. RTB-based advertising spend is predicted to reach $521 million this year, a 139% increase from 2012. PubMatic is prepared to capture this market opportunity. The PubMatic Strategic Sell Side Platform (SSP) enables premium publishers to have full control of their online advertising inventory to maximize their digital assets. The platform has been fully customized for Japan and was recently named a leader in the 65-point criteria evaluation of global SSPs and exchanges for publishers by Forrester Research, Inc. (The Forrester Wave™: Sell-Side Platforms And Exchanges For Publishers, Q2 2014).
Added Jonas, "Yosuke's experience with Japanese publishers and advertisers combined with his knowledge of the global digital ad ecosystem will ensure that PubMatic continues to be at the forefront of this explosive industry. In combination with our growing team locally, and supported by a global engineering team, PubMatic brings the best of local support and global innovation to Japan."
Prior to joining PubMatic, Yosuke led comScore Japan KK where he spent four years expanding its operations and increasing the brand awareness and customer portfolio. He joined comScore from Yahoo! Inc. from Overture Japan KK (later acquired by Yahoo! Japan) in 2005 and later transitioned to Yahoo! Inc.'s APAC operation in 2007. During his time at Yahoo! Inc. Yosuke increased efficiencies and operations through working with major global ad agencies and brands, including Dentsu and WPP group companies.
"I'm honored to join PubMatic to lead the operations in Japan and build a talented local team," commented Yosuke Maekawa. "Publishers are increasingly looking to premium programmatic to monetize guaranteed inventory at scale, and PubMatic is extremely well positioned in Japan to significantly increase premium publishers revenues through its one platform technology, across mobile, desktop and tablet, while enabling inventory discovery for leading media buyers. I look forward to the opportunity."
Yosuke Maekawa's appointment follows the recent hire of Masami Kobayashi, Technical Account Manager Japan, based out of Tokyo and the appointment of Jason Barnes as Vice President of Asia Pacific.
