Purestream Services Will Begin Commercial Operations to Treat Eagle Ford Shale Produced and Frac Flow-back Water in Gonzalez County, Texas.

SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Purestream Services will deploy its AVARA brand vapor recompression commercial water treatment system for a Texas Eagle Ford Shale gas producer in Gonzalez County, Texas.

Purestream Services has been contracted to treat the wastewater at a centralized water treatment facility near Gonzalez, Texas.  The facility was built to accommodate produced water from shale wells operating in the vicinity.  Treating wastewater nearer to the source of the production reduces the costs of processing the produced and frac flow-back water and minimizes the environmental impacts of hauling the wastewater long distances.

Purestream utilizes two technologies in the treatment process.  The first is the Induced-Gas Flotation (IGF) technology that clarifies water by removing hydrocarbons and Total Suspended Solids (TSS) to below 10ppm followed by the AVARA Vapor Recompression System that removes chlorides and total dissolved solids (TDS) from the wastewater to below 300ppm.  The treated, distilled, water product is cleaner than U.S. drinking water quality standards and suitable for discharge.
