It's the first app of its kind where users can anonymously talk with other users in real-time and share information about local happenings. Local lets users keep up-to-date on local and real-time events, discover new places, and make new friends.

Zello Local users create new conversations by recording a short introductory message and then selecting an optional title, category and photo. Those within 3 miles will instantly hear the message and can either join in or ignore it.
The feature is opt-in and does not share users' exact location, instead it shows conversation locations within half a mile on a map. Local voice chats disappear after a few hours of inactivity. To receive the new feature, current iOS and Android users simply update to the latest version of the Zello app in Google Play or Apple iTunes app store.
Since its launch in June 2012, Zello has become the most popular and highly rated mobile PTT app in the world with more than 60 million registered users. Zello use surged in Egypt, Turkey, Venezuela and the Ukraine when protesters used the app to communicate freely.
Many businesses have turned to Zello@Work — Zello's Enterprise PTT app for businesses — for PTT capabilities that replace two-way radios. Zello is also known for public and private channels.
