PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas, Sept. 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- With America's healthcare system facing a leadership gap, burnout, and a severe nursing shortage, Prairie View A&M University's Dr. Abida Solomon is being honored for helping shape the solution.
Dr. Solomon, a professor in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program at PVAMU, has been named a 2025 Excellence in Nursing Award recipient by the Good Samaritan Foundation, one of Texas' most respected organizations dedicated to recognizing and advancing nursing professionals across the state.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics projects the need for more than 275,000 additional nurses by 2030 to meet rising demand and replace retiring professionals. The healthcare system demands bold leadership and innovation, and Dr. Solomon is training doctoral-level nurses to deliver and lead care. As part of one of the few DNP programs housed within a Historically Black College or University, her work has national relevance. She's building a healthcare workforce that is more resilient and equipped to meet the needs of underserved communities.
