In doing so this helps us achieve the vision and goals of QatarDebate. Special thanks also go to ConocoPhillips, the Gold Sponsor of the championship, represented here by Mr. Frank Feghali, Vice President and Commercial Manager of ConocoPhillips.

"This competition comes within the efforts of QatarDebate to support and promote the art of debate and dialogue in Arabic and to build the foundations of this discipline in the Arab World. The International Schools Arabic Debating Championship falls within the framework of our efforts to spread this art and raise awareness amongst youth of its importance in the preparation of future generations and shaping future leaders based on the foundations of the authentic Arabic language, which serves our language, culture and identity."

She noted that the center continues to organize tournaments and international conferences because of their important role in spreading the culture of Arab and international debating, and that QatarDebate will also participate in tournaments and conferences abroad on a regular basis.

And on the Qatari debating team's preparations, Dr. Hayat said, "The team is preparing intensely for the championship, especially students who have been nominated to join the team. Their training has been intensive, and during next week we will officially announce the names of all the Qatar Debating team members who will represent the country in the international championship."

Mr. Jamal Al Baker stated that the championship is characterized by the participation of all Arab countries except for Morocco, pointing out that he has been communicating with the Ministry of Education in Morocco ahead of the championship, but QatarDebate believes that there are special circumstances preventing them from participating, although they were contacted in advance. No responses have been received to confirm attendance which forced us to inform them that they would not participate in the championship.

Notes to the Editor:

The idea of launching QatarDebate had emerged from the vision of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser Al-Chairman of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, which is based on human development as the most expensive wealth through two parallel lines: transplant science and knowledge and launch enhancing the skills of creative talent: the ability to express opinion and interact with others and not a collision with them.

Thousands of students underwent to training courses organized by QatarDebate, and many of them participated in local, regional and global tournaments which organized by "QatarDebate" Center, and so many proven over the success of the "QatarDebate" during the last period, and reflects the great effort done by the officials in the center... QatarDebate helped to achieve its objectives the great support given by the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.

The QatarDebate Center was founded in 2008 in order to develop the level of open discussion and debate and promote it among students in Qatar and the Middle East, including contributing to the preparation of global citizens and leaders of thoughts in the future.
