Gonzalez and Dinkins to help with Toys for Tots drive
STEUBENVILLE, Ohio, Dec. 1, 2010 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- QDA officials today announced they will host a Toys for Tots charity event at their office here on Dec. 8, when former Pittsburgh Steelers will make an appearance to benefit area children in need of some holiday cheer.
"Anyone who brings a brand new toy to donate will have the opportunity to rub elbows with former Steelers Pete Gonzales and Darnell Dinkens," said Jonathan Ludwig, supervisor of student services for QDA. "They'll also have a chance to visit and snap some photos with the athletes, and might get a glimpse of the Super Bowl ring Dinkens earned as a member of last year's NFL championship team, the New Orleans Saints.
Gonzalez, a former quarterback for the Pitt Panthers, joined the Steelers for the 1998 season and was the last player to wear No. 7 prior to Ben Roethlisberger. Dinkins was signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2001, but has also played professional ball with many teams, including the New York Giants, the Baltimore Ravens, and the Cleveland Browns.
"QDA invites everyone to join the former Steelers, and become champions for children this holiday season," Ludwig said. "We appreciate the community where we work, and recognize the need to give back to families who need assistance. We are proud to partner with Toys for Tots of Jefferson County.
The event is open to the public and will take place at 5:30 p.m. at 2230 Sunset Blvd., Suite 2B.
QDA recently opened a new office in Steubenville to better serve the students of the Ohio Valley. It serves approximately 500 students statewide and is Ohio's premier online K-12 public school. By providing individual attention to its students, QDA encourages them to learn at their own pace, and gives them the opportunity to study with the curriculum program best suited to their needs. In addition to QDA's outstanding academic record, it has made AYP 3 years in a row.
