WEST CHESTER, Pa., July 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading Jeep aftermarket parts retailer Quadratec Inc., recently announced it is once again collecting canned food donations in preparation for the popular Philadelphia radio station WMMR's 'Preston and Steve Camp Out For Hunger' food drive in late November.
Quadratec, along with other Philadelphia region Jeep clubs, will then combine all donations and form a huge Jeep caravan during one night of the week long Camp Out For Hunger. The Jeep crowd also competes each year with a Philly-area Porsche club to see which group can donate the most food. Last year saw 142 Jeeps participate in the caravan and donate 14,335 pounds of food, slightly less than the Porsche Club's 19,903 pounds.
"Whether it is one can or a Jeep-full, it all adds up," said Quadratec's Jeep and Java co-coordinator Cory Cole. "We owe the Porsche club, so this year we'd like to get as many donations as we can from our great customers before the caravan heads out."
WMMR's Camp Out For Hunger, now in its 20th year, is the country's largest single location food drive and pulled in more than 683 tons of food during the 2016 event. The week long food drive is held at the Xfinity Live complex in South Philadelphia, and all donated food goes to Philabundance - the region's largest hunger relief organization.
