"Quality GEELY" for Global Tests and Challenges
SHANGHAI, April 18, 2011 /PRNewswire-Asia/ --
Keywords: Shanghai Auto Show, 2011 GEELY strategy, Quality GEELY
Introduction: Under the slogan of "Quality GEELY" this time, GEELY Auto is set to hit the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show with 37 models, 3 theme parks as well as 2 interactive experience zones for audiences to witness its latest R&D achievement as an independent automaker in China.
As one of the top ten automakers in China now, GEELY says 2011 is the year for it to usher on his "Global Strategy" in an all out way.
A dark horse from China: Despite being aged a mere 13 years, its total assets have exceeded $5.2 billion (as to date), and annual production capacity is at over 600,000 models. While digging into the China domestic market with progressive technology and more sophisticated engineering, GEELY is pioneering on competing for overseas customers. Annual sales volume of GEELY topped 415,000 units in 2010, up by 30 percent in comparison with the precedent year. And the export volume from 2007 to 2010 exceeding 100,000 units is up to 5 times that of the 2003 2006 period. GEELY's CK, MK, FC and SL-1 models have been exported to over 50 countries. New models like EMGRAND EC7 and PANDA are now well received by overseas customers.
A modern GEELY for the World: GEELY has built 9 manufacturing bases across China, and has established its CKD assembly bases in Indonesia and Russia for local model production. Meanwhile, it is joint-ventured with UK MB Holdings, rooted in 2006; acquired Australian DSI Automatic Transmission Company in 2009, which is the world 2nd largest independent transmission manufacturer. These have all but put the active Chinese automaker into the world auto industry focus.
"Quality GEELY" - To make product quality the trump card: Following GEELY Panda met the C-NCAP five star safety impact test in 2009, EMGRAND EC7 was titled "King of Safety" by its prominent score (46.8) in the test in 2010, the highest score among the tested models in the segment.
GEELY's show theme of "Quality GEELY" this time may be read as its resolution for its commitment to more intensive independent R&D input and engineering. To improve R&D quality and efficiency, GEELY has implemented its distinctive R&D management system of G-PLM throughout the whole R&D process. And GEELY's automotive safety technology test workshop, fulfilling the E-NCAP and C-NCAP impact tests, has been ready for wide-spread utilization. For product safety design, GEELY's 2nd generation sample model with the BMBS (GEELY's Blow-out monitoring and brake system) has finished the R&D period. By now, GEELY is reported to have applied 3,254 GEELY technology patents, and has been awarded 1,822 patent rights.
While committed to the independent R&D, GEELY has been actively seeking international technological cooperation and manufacturing partnership. For example, different from previous GEELY-style interior designs, it now cooperates with the world's 6th largest auto parts manufacturer Faurecia. GEELY models' interior trim is jointly designed and produced with a global quality supplier.
Quality-driven manufacturing for a solid and sustainable domestic market: With the idea of quality in its new manufacturing phase, GEELY has adopted the digital quality management system from 2010. With European design and manufacturing standards, GEELY's EMGRAND EC7 has been awarded as "Quality Reliable Auto Model" by China's vehicle quality raking body.
Pioneering on overseas markets to build an international brand: For the goal of "making GEELY a globally competitive brand by 2015", after its strategy transformation from a previous price favorable brand, GEELY is now sparing no efforts to product quality management and its core globalization.
Anticipation breeds to check what the present "Quality GEELY" will show on the coming 2011 Shanghai Auto Show.
Delivering the most safe, environment-friendly and efficient cars to the world!
