NEW YORK, May 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- People favor quality.  They just need quality options.  In 2009, Sebastian Kaufmann created Kaufmann Mercantile with a simple mission:  offer well-made, beautifully designed goods to bring quality back to the everyday.  He wanted to give people an alternative to the big box stores selling superfluous, landfill bound products.  Kaufmann Mercantile is the antidote.

We started with just 8 products.  Today, on our 3rd birthday, with over 500 hand picked products from tools to housewares, our retail revolution is taking shape. 

Our business model was bold – sell only the finest examples of products out there (even if it meant the stapler costs $240) coupled with in-depth product descriptions – was just crazy enough to work.  People were skeptical at first, for good reason, we we're coming out of a recession and times were tough.  But, we were confidant people would see the value in - buying once, buying for life - and they have.

In our Brooklyn office our small team spends countless hours searching the globe for the best products out there, turning down 99% of what we see, so you can be assured everything you see in the store has been talked about, held and tested.  

After three years, we're a little older, a little wiser and more committed than ever.
