Quantum Energy Asset Management & R.E. Lee International Capital unveil $100 million fintech-focused hybrid fund, QEX Fund SP
SINGAPORE, Feb. 28, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Quantum Energy Asset Management (QEAM) and R.E. Lee International Capital today announced the official launch of a new hybrid fund, QEX Fund SP which will be offered to non-US accredited investors to co-invest in promising fintech startups.
The fund will be led by Chief Executive Officer of QEAM, Vic Tham, who has been in the banking and securities industry for more than three decades. Mr. Tham concurrently serves as the Chief Investment Officer of Pundi X, a leading Singaporean-based blockchain company recently ranked by KPMG as one of the world's "Emerging 50" firms that are at the forefront of innovative technologies and practices in its 2018 Fintech100 report of Leading Global Fintech Innovators. Throughout Mr. Tham's career, he has been involved in deal teams of several companies' listings, mergers, and investment activities. Before starting up QEAM recently, he served as the Chief Operating Officer for Asia Pacific Global Transaction Services at Bank of America-Merrill Lynch. He also had prior senior roles in several companies including Morgan Stanley, Standard Chartered Bank, and was also the former Group Head of Risk Management (Chief Risk Officer) for Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing (HKEX).

The 5-year hybrid fund plans to target exponential gains above standard market benchmarks. It balances its portfolio with early-to-growth stage venture capital assets and investments in traditional liquid assets such as equities, bonds, and derivatives. Through active portfolio management, QEX Fund SP aims to maximize returns through dynamic risk diversification and multi-asset allocations according to market trends.
Mr. Tham is joined by QEAM's Chief Operating Officer, Fen Chao Yong. Mr. Yong was the former head of a fixed income market making and credit derivatives business at United Overseas Bank in Singapore. Both Mr. Tham and Mr. Yong are licensed fund managers in Singapore.
QEX Fund SP is structured as a Cayman-registered Segregated Portfolio of R.E. Lee International Capital SPC, a Segregated Portfolio Company managed by R.E. Lee International Capital Pte. Ltd.
