Radio Program 'In Your Right Mind' Discusses Why Wine Drinking Moms are Glorified in a New Broadcast on 790 AM KABC
SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., Nov. 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- "In Your Right Mind," a weekly radio program that features in-depth roundtable discussions of today's leading behavioral health headlines, aired an informative show called, "Moms Who Wine," on Sunday, October 29, at 5 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time on Talk Radio 790 AM KABC Los Angeles. The broadcast discussed the variety of reasons why mental health issues and problems with drinking can develop among new moms. "In 2013, more than a million women wound up in emergency rooms as a result of heavy drinking, with women in middle age most likely to suffer severe intoxication. And it's estimated that one in four U.S. children has an alcoholic parent."
"One thing we know about young girls between the ages of 12-17 is that they've now way caught up with boys. The girls smoke more cigarettes, they use more cocaine, they're more likely to drink and use prescription drugs, but they're use is binging," explained Ms. Bowman. "The amount and frequency of drinking is not part of the criteria for an addiction. The criteria are: do you have a problem stopping once you start, and do you have trouble staying stopped in between? As women become older and become mothers, they later realize they've had an issue with alcohol for a long time."
