LAS VEGAS, Oct. 20, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition Las Vegas at Luxor Hotel & Casino has unveiled a rare diamond ring recovered from RMS Titanic's wrecksite, now on display in Las Vegas for the first time in a decade. The one-of-a-kind artifact features three old European-cut diamonds, including a 2-carat pear-shaped center stone framed by two 1-carat rounds. It was discovered during RMS Titanic Inc.'s (RMST) first recovery expedition in 1987.
Recovered from a single leather bag in Titanic's debris field, the ring was preserved underwater for 75 years before being carefully conserved to restore its brilliance. RMST's conservation experts believe the bag once belonged to one of Titanic's pursers, who safeguarded passengers' valuables during the evacuation with the intention of returning them once ashore. That return never came.
"This once-in-a-lifetime diamond ring is one of Titanic's more elegant artifacts," said Tomasina Ray, RMST's President and Director of Collections. "It reflects the sophistication of the Edwardian Era and the personal stories that continue to connect us to Titanic's legacy."
The ring's recovery in 1987 marked a milestone in Titanic exploration. Using the submersible Nautile, the RMST team carefully lifted the bag from the seabed, revealing a collection of jewelry and personal belongings that had been sealed since 1912. The recovery was also featured in the 1987 television special "Return to the Titanic," hosted by Telly Savalas.
Today, the diamond ring joins hundreds of authentic artifacts recovered from the ocean floor that are showcased at TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition. This includes Big Piece, a 15-ton section of the Ship's hull, and Las Vegas is the only place in the world where this artifact is on display. Together, these artifacts offer visitors a closer look at the craftsmanship, luxury, and humanity behind the world's most famous ocean liner.
TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition is located inside the Luxor Hotel & Casino and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., with final admission at 5 p.m. For more information and to purchase tickets, visit TitanicLasVegas.com.
