RCA Welcomes Cricket Communications as Newest Member
WASHINGTON and SAN DIEGO, March 20, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- RCA – The Competitive Carriers Association and Cricket Communications, Inc., a leading provider of innovative and value-driven wireless services, announced today that Cricket has joined RCA as its newest member. Cricket joins RCA's over 100 carrier members to help fight for issues critical to wireless competitive carriers in Washington, D.C. Doug Hutcheson, president, CEO and director of Leap Wireless International, Inc., the parent of Cricket Communications, Inc., will speak at RCA's 2012 Competitive Carriers Global Expo, March 28-30 in Orlando, FL. Robert J. Irving, Jr., Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary has been appointed to RCA's Board of Directors.
"I am extremely pleased to welcome Cricket Communications to RCA," said RCA president & CEO Steven K. Berry. "Cricket provides some of the most innovative, dynamic services in the wireless industry, focusing on consumers' interests and needs. Cricket shares many of the same advocacy concerns as our current members, and their presence will only strengthen our fight to ensure the wireless industry is a competitive one. RCA speaks with a strong, united voice, and we look forward to working with Cricket in our continued work with policymakers at the FCC, on Capitol Hill and at the White House."
Rob Irving of Cricket Communications, Inc said, "We are excited to join RCA at this important moment in the evolution of the wireless industry. RCA is a strong proponent of legislative and regulatory policies aimed at maintaining a vibrant, competitive wireless industry. The policy challenges ahead – which include ensuring that RCA's members have access to additional spectrum needed to meet the market's demand for advanced services and roaming policies that encourage further investment and enable effective and efficient use of available spectrum assets – are critical to Cricket's continued success. We believe that RCA is uniquely positioned to deal with these and the many other issues confronting the competitive wireless industry. I look forward to serving with other industry leaders on RCA's Board of Directors, and working with RCA's entire membership, as we move forward."
