Analyst Update: Earnings, Stake sale  and Legal Updates

U.S. stocks closed lower on Tuesday amid sharp bond market volatility. The NASDAQ Composite closed at 4,976.19, down 0.35%, the S&P 500 fell 0.29% to 2,099.12, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average finished the day 0.20% lower, at 18,068.23. European stocks fell sharply on Tuesday as heavy bond market sell-off flustered investors. Germany's DAX 30 slipped 1.72%, France's CAC 40 tumbled 1.06%, and the London's FTSE 100 closed 1.37% lower on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Asian markets were mixed on Tuesday amid concern over Greece's future in the euro zone and interest rate cut in China.

Vale S.A. announced that it has concluded the sale of 49% of its participation in the Belo Monte hydroelectric plant project. The stake was sold to Cemig Geração e Transmissão S.A (Cemig GT) pursuant to an agreement with Cemig GT, signed back on December 19, 2013.

SandRidge Energy, Inc. (SandRidge) on May 6, 2015 announced its financial results for the first quarter 2015. The Company reported daily production of 87.7 MBoepd for first quarter of 2015, up 10.7% over first quarter of 2014. The Adjusted EBITDA, net of Noncontrolling Interest, came in at $182 million for first quarter 2015 compared to $169 million in first quarter 2014, pro forma for divestitures.

Chesapeake Energy Corporation (Chesapeake) announced its first quarter 2015 financial results on May 6, 2015. The Company reported revenue of $2.8 billion, a decrease of around 45% from last year's March quarter revenue of $5.0 billion.

On May 8, 2015, Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. - Petrobras reported that it has joined the Federal Prosecutors Office as principal in actions against a dishonest public servant against subcontractors and executives alleged responsible for breaches in the scope of the "Lava Jato (Car Wash) Operation".

Transocean Ltd. announced its earnings results on Wednesday, May 6, 2015 for the first quarter 2015. The Company reported revenues of $2.0 billion during the quarter compared to $2.3 billion in March 2014, primarily due to reduced activity associated with stacked and idle rigs, and asset disposals, partly offset by fewer out-of-service days.
