LOS ANGELES, July 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Rentrak Corporation (Nasdaq: RENT), the global leader in box office measurement, today announced the worldwide weekend box office estimates for the weekend of July 21, 2013 as compiled by the company's Box Office Essentials™ and International Box Office Essentials^™ theatrical measurement services.

Rentrak's President of Theatrical Worldwide, Ron Giambra commented, "Despicable Me 2 is the No. 1 film in world for the third consecutive weekend with an estimated weekend gross of $60.5 million from 51 markets, its worldwide cume now stands at $584.6 million. The film's international total of $308.4 million is now higher than the lifetime international total of the original. Also, Monsters University's worldwide total surpassed $500 million this weekend. It's the seventh Pixar film in a row to do so and of Pixar's 14 films, 10 have gone on to gross more than $500 million in global box office."
