Disney's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" does it again, leading the box office charge as it adds an additional $72.4 million globally in its fifth weekend in cinemas, thus bringing its total to nearly $1.9 billion around the globe as it sets its sights on the $2 billion club. Fox's "The Revenant" is also a big winner as it builds on critical and awards-season buzz with nearly $150 million worldwide to-date and climbing.
In North American action, audiences wanted to go along for the ride with Kevin Hart and Ice Cube this weekend as Universal's "Ride Along 2" drove to the number one box office spot with $41.5 million for the four-day Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend.
Lionsgate's brilliant crime drama "Sicario" is off to a great start on the small screen as it debuted at number one on our DVD and Blu-Ray Disc sales chart and at number two on the rentals chart. "Star Wars" fever continues on the small screen as "Star Wars: The Complete Saga" followed by "Star Wars Trilogy" and "Star Wars Prequel Trilogy" impressively held the second, third and fourth place spots on the DVD & Blu-ray sales chart.
Fox's Golden Globe® winning film for Best Motion Picture and Best Actor Matt Damon, "The Martian," held on to the top spot on the digital movie purchases and rentals chart in its second week of release.
On our combined engagement for broadcast and cable chart, ESPN's "SportsCenter" posted an image to Instagram about Jimmy Butler's record setting points in a half by a Bull. The image of him and Michael Jordan garnered 151k+ interactions.
