It is fitting that Universal's "Minions" tops the global box office chart this weekend since the studio is celebrating yet another record with the fastest spring to $5 billion in worldwide revenue in industry history. Disney also enjoys another great weekend with the debut of Marvel's "Ant-Man" to a strong $114.4 million performance in 38 territories around the globe, making it the 12th Marvel Universe number one debut in a row in North America.
On this week's Movies on Demand chart, Warner Bros.' R-rated prison comedy "Get Hard" is number one again this week followed by newcomer "Woman in Gold" and Sean Penn in Universal's action drama "The Gunman."
On our digital purchases and rentals chart, Warner Bros.' "Get Hard," now in its fourth week of release, has ascended the chart to the top position. Fox's Dreamworks animation title "Home" holds strong in its second week in the second spot. Sony's comedy sequel "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2" debuts on the charts in the number six position.
It's déjà vu at the top of our DVD and Blu-ray Disc sales chart this week in the top two spots with Warner Bros.' "Get Hard" starring Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart and Fox's action favorite "Kingsman: The Secret Service" leading the charge followed by the debut of Lionsgate's suspense drama "Maggie" starring Arnold Schwarzenegger & Joely Richardson.
This week on the DVD and Blu-ray Disc rentals side of the ledger, "Kingsman: The Secret Service" takes first followed by Warner Bros.' caper crime comedy "Focus" starring Will Smith and Margot Robbie, which continues to be an audience favorite in its sixth week in release on the small screen, followed by Warner's sci-fi epic "Jupiter Ascending."
This week, Fox's "2015 FIFA Women's World Cup" reigned supreme while Telemundo's "El Señor de los Cielos" moves to second on our broadcast telecasts chart, followed UniMas' "Futbol internacional."
Our top viewer engagement for cable telecasts chart shows TNT's "Major Crimes" generating a lot of interest from viewers followed by VH1's ever-popular "Love and Hip Hop Atlanta" and TNT's "Rizzoli & Isles."
Finally, on our combined social media and digital engagement chart for viewers of broadcast and cable telecasts, NBC's "America's Got Talent featured a 5-year-old girl who tapped and sang to "In Summer" from "Frozen."
