Responsive Classroom® Introduces Courses for Middle School Educators
One-Day and Multi-Day Course Options Offered
TURNERS FALLS, Mass., Jan. 25, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Center for Responsive Schools, developer of the Responsive Classroom approach to teaching, has announced it will offer one-day and multi-day courses for middle school educators for the first time in 2016.
The new one-day course, Introduction to Responsive Classroom for Middle School, will teach middle school educators how the Responsive Classroom approach boosts middle school students' social and academic skills while reducing behavior problems. The course is being offered this March in Hartford, CT, Minneapolis, MN, and New Orleans, LA.
The four-day course, Responsive Classroom Course for Middle School Educators, will be open to all middle school teachers and administrators and will be offered in over 10 locations throughout the U.S. In this interactive course, educators will learn to use core Responsive Classroom practices and strategies such as Responsive Advisory Meeting, Interactive Modeling, Teacher Language, Investing Students in the Rules, Responding to Misbehavior, Engaging Instruction, and more. These practices and strategies will engage students academically, build positive school and classroom communities, help teachers manage classrooms effectively, and develop students' intrinsic motivation to choose socially responsible behaviors.
"We are bringing Responsive Classroom into middle school because we want to ensure that students continue to make gains when they leave elementary school and enter this next critical period in their school careers," says Dr. Lora Hodges, executive director at Center for Responsive Schools. "Our expansion to middle school is the next logical step to meet our mission to ensure a high-quality education for every child, every day."
Registration for The Responsive Classroom Course for Middle School Educators will open in early February. Registration for the one-day course is already open. Participants can register for all one-day and multi-day courses by visiting www.responsiveclassroom.org or by calling 800-360-6332 ext. 130.
