Retail Store Academy Sports + Outdoors Enters the Atlanta Market

KATY, Texas, March 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Academy Sports + Outdoors, a southeast-based sports and outdoors lifestyle retail chain, announced that it will debut its first store in the Atlanta area on Friday, April 1, 2011. The store is nearly 70,000 square feet and is located at 198 South Point Boulevard in McDonough. It brings 150 new jobs to the area, and is the fourth Academy Sports + Outdoors store in the state of Georgia.

On Thursday, March 31, Store Director Jeremy Goldman will cut the ribbon at the McDonough store, and open it for a private give-back event where 40 children from Walnut Creek Elementary will be treated to a shopping spree. The children will be the store's first customers. Each child will receive a $100 gift card to shop with plus a personal shopping assistant courtesy of Academy Sports + Outdoors.

Additionally, McDonough will celebrate its grand opening April 15-17. The event will provide Atlanta residents with numerous door-buster deals, line-up specials, prizes, celebrity autograph opportunities, free food and fun for the entire family.
