Retina Institute of Hawaii, the Pacific Region's Premier Vision Care Practice, Recently Launched a New Industry Journal and was Honored With the Hawaii Governor's Innovation Award, and Hawaii's Best Doctor Award.
HONOLULU, July 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Retina Institute of Hawaii (RIH) recently received the Hawaii Governor's Innovation Award from Governor Linda Lingle for being one of the nation's leading retina treatment practices. The Institute is currently participating in 13 clinical trials, including the NeoVista Epi-Rad Radiotherapy System, which delivers a targeted burst of radiation to the retina, used to treat Wet Age-Related Macular Degeneration. The trials have been a great success and patients in the trial have seen their vision improve.
Retina Institute of Hawaii's founder Dr. Michael Bennett, who is also a contributing author to Retina Today, was recently honored as one of Hawaii's best Doctors from Honolulu Magazine. This is a significant award because industry piers determine the winners. Retina Institute of Hawaii also recently published its first annual industry journal titled "Visionary," filled the latest advances in retina medications and procedures. Other highlights from the journal include RIH's involvement in retina research, clinical trials and community outreach, including Project VISION, a 36-foot mobile screening facility used to help detect retina conditions in Hawaii's underserved populations. The publication also features two inspiring patient stories, one of a Danish artist and the other of an army medic stationed in Afghanistan, both of whose eyesight were dramatically improved thanks to retinal procedures received at RIH.
RIH also recently debuted a new website (www.retinahawaii.com) containing a wealth of knowledge on retina health, as well as a "From the Experts" blog which describes RIH's ongoing clinical trials involving some of the world's cutting edge retina technology and treatments.
