HOUSTON, Dec. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Reynolds associates and their families gathered at the Houston offices of Reynolds and Reynolds for an annual tradition Saturday, Dec. 2, as they assembled more than 100 bicycles for the children of Texas-based military personnel.
Reynolds also held a Bike Build Dec. 2 at the company's headquarters in Dayton, Ohio.
"The Bike Build is an opportunity to recognize military families and to involve our families in the spirit of giving," said Jim Wright, vice president at Reynolds who was on hand at the Bike Build. "It's become one of the highlights of the holiday season at Reynolds."
Receiving the bikes this year: the United States Marine Corps Reserve 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion, based out of Galveston, Texas.
The 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion operates Amphibious Assault Vehicles (AAVs) to carry Marines from ship to shore during an assault on an enemy-held beach, as well as to transport infantry inland. Members of the 4th Assault Amphibian Battalion assisted in rescue and recovery operations in the Houston and Beaumont areas following Hurricane Harvey in August and September.
"These are the same service members who were called up from the Galveston base during Hurricane Harvey," Wright said. "They helped Houstonians during and after the storms, and we are proud to give back to them in this small way for the holiday season."
Each year, Reynolds purchases and donates the bikes for the Bike Build. Reynolds employees and their families assemble all the bikes, which can range from 12-inch bikes with training wheels to 26-inch multi-speed bicycles.
