LA Celebrates Shakespeare's 450th Birthday

LOS ANGELES, April 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Academy Award Winning Actor Richard Dreyfuss joins forces with The Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and American Legion Post 8 to present the classic 'pound of flesh' trial scene from The Merchant of Venice, in celebration of William Shakespeare's 450th Birthday, on April 23rd, at 7pm, at Patriotic Hall, located at 2615 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90007.  Lawyers attending the trial scene and post-reading panel discussion may earn one credit toward their Mandatory Continuing Legal Education.

The panel discussion will focus on the relationship of justice and mercy in contemporary legal practice.  Panelists include U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff, Honorable A. Howard Matz, Central California Federal Judge (retired), Federal Public Defender Sean Kennedy, and Dr. Josh Holo, Dean of Hebrew Union College. The panel discussion will be moderated by Dr. Susan Tiefenbrun.
