Rickey Booker, Restaurateur, Applauds UGM Dallas for Their Work with Homeless

During a Recent Event Former President George W. Bush and Wife Laura, underscored the Importance of UGM Dallas' work

DALLAS, Feb. 7, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Restaurateur Rickey Booker, co-owner of the Breakfast Brothers restaurant concept group, is encouraging restaurateurs to seek opportunities to employ those in our community seeking a second chance. Booker applauds a local organization, UGM Dallas, who provides comprehensive support for one of society's most vulnerable populations.

At a recent event, former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, underscored the importance of UGM Dallas's efforts, urging attendees to continue supporting the organization's vision of ending homelessness, one person at a time. The event highlighted UGM Dallas's multifaceted approach to support, which includes more than just meals and shelter. The organization provides job skill training, computer classes, parenting and financial literacy courses, job fairs, and a licensed daycare to help women complete their training and secure employment.

Bruce Butler, CEO of UGM Dallas, expressed his gratitude to the community, thanking attendees for their volunteer hours and generous donations over the years. "Our program is about giving people a hand up, not a handout," said Butler. "We empower individuals to achieve independence and stability."

Booker shares his own inspiring personal story about witnessing the transformative power of providing opportunities. While driving to work one day, he noticed a homeless young man on the corner and felt compelled to act. Booker hired the young man named Jahir Romero and with mentorship from his team, the individual flourished.
