MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 9, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As scrutiny and skepticism grows from stakeholders, companies of all sizes are looking for ways to show their environmental stewardship and social responsibility efforts. According to a recent report by Brandlogic and CRD Analytics, 100 prominent global brands have improved their sustainability performance across the board from 2011 to 2012, while the stakeholder perception of these companies' environmental, social and corporate governance factors has actually decreased.

To win over public perception, companies are realizing the need to show visual steps taken to supplement their "behind-the-scenes" corporate initiatives. MPC, an IT Asset Lifecycle Management (ITLM) company based in Minneapolis, has seen an increase in customer requests for corporate collection events that engage employees and believes this trend will help combat the findings of the 2012 study.
"These employee collection events not only benefit large-scale corporate initiatives, but also provide a public outlet for their employees to participate," says MPC's Senior Vice President, Gregg Bjork. "By involving employees in these types of events, the responsibility becomes less corporate and brings it down to an individual level."
MPC has created a consistent service platform to meet the increase in demand and commends companies for taking the initiative to provide these types of events for their employees. In October, committed companies kept over 30,000 pounds of electronics out of the landfill by hosting events with MPC.
"We saw this as a great employee perk to allow team members to responsibly dispose of their unwanted electronics and get the conversation started about our corporate environmental initiatives," says Korwin Lockie, Senior Vice President and Operations Director of Bremer Bank. "Not only did our event support our environmental efforts, but we were also able to benefit The Bridge for Youth organization with all of the cell phones we collected." Bremer Bank participates in MPC's Cell Phones for my Cause program and all funds generated from the collected cell phones will be given back to Bremer Bank to donate to their local charitable cause.
MPC encourages companies who are interested in hosting a collection event like this to use certified service providers with both environmental and data security standards. Certifications like e-Stewards, R2, ISO 14001 and NAID all serve as proof points for responsible processing methods.
