Robert Clay Joins Save the Children as Vice President for Health and Nutrition
FAIRFIELD, Conn., Sept. 22, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Global humanitarian and relief organization Save the Children has appointed Robert Clay to the position of Vice President for Health and Nutrition, effective Nov. 1. He will lead a team of more than 100 staff members, based in Washington, D.C., and regional offices around the world, and will oversee an annual budget of $380 million.

"He brings valuable insights from his extensive technical, field and management experience, and will be a strong addition to our leadership team."
Clay most recently held the position of Deputy Assistant Administrator, Bureau for Global Health, at the U.S. Agency for International Development in Washington, D.C. He served more than three decades with USAID, where he obtained the rank of Minister Counselor in the Senior Foreign Service and was honored with the agency's Distinguished Career Service Award in 2013. He also received the Lifetime Achievement Award, U.S. President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR), in 2014.
Clay supervised all the technical offices in the Global Health Bureau while at USAID — HIV/AIDS; Population and Reproductive Health; Health, Infectious Diseases and Nutrition; and Health Systems. He also led the Saving Mothers, Giving Life Initiative, an innovative $200 million public-private partnership focused on maternal mortality. He has served as Director of the Office of Population, Health and Nutrition in both India and Zambia.
