Robert R. Bowie, Jr. Appointed to Goucher College Board of Trustees

TOWSON, Md., Oct. 8, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Bowie & Jensen, a leading business law firm, is pleased to announce that Robert R. Bowie, Jr. has been appointed to Goucher College's Board of Trustees. Goucher College, located in Towson, Maryland, is an independent liberal arts college that has been brought into the national spotlight by hosting high-profile speakers, establishing innovative educational programs, and the study abroad program required by each undergraduate for graduation.

Mr. Bowie is serving a four-year term, starting this year.  He will serve on the Campus Life, Development & Alumnae Affairs, and Global Signature Board Committees.  He was appointed by Sanford Ungar, President of Goucher College, and will be working with Norma Lynn Fox, Chair of the Board of Trustees and a 1976 graduate.

This is not Mr. Bowie's first foray into academic leadership. He previously served as President of the Harvard Alumni Association, which represents three hundred and sixty thousand Alumni of the College and University worldwide. He has also served the HAA as co-chair of its Schools and Scholarship Committee, and Member-at-large, Vice President of College Affairs, Vice President of Engagement & Marketing and First Vice President of its Executive Committee.

He is a member of the Harvard Clubs of Maryland and New York. In addition, he is a member of the Board of Directors of The Columbia Bank of Maryland, Road Scholar, Everyman Theatre and The Single Carrot Theater. In the past he has also served on the Editorial Board of The Daily Record, on the Board of Directors of the Towson Chamber of Commerce (formerly known as Towson Business Association), and as a charter member and president of the TowsonTowne Rotary Club.
