Rock Hall's Newest Exhibit, "Graham Nash: Touching the Flame," Explores the Impact of Music on the Two-Time Inductee and Those Around Him

CLEVELAND, Sept. 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's newest exhibit, Graham Nash: Touching the Flame, which opens October 17, 2015, explores how rock and roll has shaped the world and inspired some of history's most powerful figures. With Graham Nash as narrator, the exhibit utilizes the two-time Hall of Fame Inductee's personal collection as a guide to the highs and lows, tumult and joys of the last half century. Pieces from Nash's heroes and inspirations – the Beatles, the Everly Brothers, Elvis Presley, the Beach Boys, Buddy Holly and Duane Allman – and treasures from his time with The Hollies and Crosby, Stills and Nash come to life as Nash reflects on the visceral and profound impact of the music and world events on him and those around him. 

Rock collides with art and politics, as mementos of relationships and connections to such occasions as the assassination of John F. Kennedy recall pivotal moments that shaped not only the music, but also the outlook of generations. "It's more than a look at Graham Nash's musical career," says Rock and Roll Hall of Fame president and CEO Greg Harris. "It's a look at the inspiration he drew from the world around him – inspirations that made him a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Inductee."

Plus, for those who've ever wondered what it would be like to trade harmonies with a Hall of Fame Inductee, a unique interactive game will bring visitors face to face with Graham Nash himself as he guides – and critiques – would-be singing partners as they try to harmonize with him. Visitors will be able to email themselves a keepsake of their singing ability.

ARTIFACT HIGHLIGHTS
Among the items in the exhibit are:

• Photographs taken by Nash, including one of his earliest shots, taken of his mother in 1953
• Test pressings of "Love Me Do," "Please Please Me" and "Fool on the Hill" by the Beatles
• Handwritten lyrics to "Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine)" written by Bob Dylan
• The earliest version of handwritten lyrics to Nash's "Our House"
• A Gibson SG played by Duane Allman
• Phil Everly's acoustic guitar
• The jeans and belt Nash wore at Woodstock '69
• Photographs taken by Buddy Holly
• A Joni Mitchell painting of Nash with their cat, Calico

SPECIAL EVENT
To celebrate the exhibit opening, Nash will be at the Museum for a special performance and book signing on October 16.

ABOUT GRAHAM NASH
While continually building his musical legacy, Graham Nash is also an internationally renowned photographer and visual artist whose work has been shown in galleries and museums worldwide, including the Smithsonian. Born in Blackpool, England, Nash was appointed OBE by Queen Elizabeth in 2010.  He first rose to fame with The Hollies, and went on to form Crosby, Stills & Nash in 1968.  Nash has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame two times (for CSN & The Hollies), and is in the Songwriters Hall of Fame (as an individual and with CSN).  In May 2013, he received an honorary Doctor of Fine Arts from Boston's Lesley University.  His autobiography - Wild Tales: A Rock & Roll Life - was released on September 17, 2013 by Crown Archetype/Random House, and landed him on the New York Times Best-Sellers list. He is currently working on a new studio album set to be released in 2016.
