Rock house, home sites on mountain ridge in historic Mentone selling at auction

MENTONE, Ala., May 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- A rock house and guest house on Lookout Mountain in historic Mentone will be among the properties selling in an auction that ends June 29, with Pearce & Associates conducting the sale.

The house, which sits on 2.5 acres on Scenic Highway, is furnished and has prime views on Lookout Mountain, in the Appalachians, according to Chip Pearce, president of the auction company. The home and land at 19465 Scenic Highway, Mentone, have all been owned by the same family for at least four generations and never offered for sale.

A second parcel of 3.6 acres directly across the road is partially cleared and suitable for use as a home site or a barn, he said.

"There's really no place in the world quite like historic Mentone, and the beauty of the Little River through this area is simply spectacular. This is an ideal mountain getaway for someone who enjoys fishing, hunting and other outdoor sports in a beautiful mountain setting," said Pearce.

Also selling in the auction are 17 home sites -- seven waterfront -- on the Little River in the DeSoto Falls Subdivision next to the DeSoto Falls State Park in Mentone. "The lots are located at the entrance to the park and would make an incredible RV park right at the entrance to a very popular destination," said Pearce.

"One of these lots even has a boathouse with an upstairs living area," said Pearce. "All of these have city water and power available. Six have paved road frontage, and the others have gravel roads," he said.

The auction is being conducted online at www.auctionbypearce.com and will continue until noon Central Thursday, June 29.
