Rockpointe and AudioEducate Launch First Ever Accredited CME Program on Amazon's Alexa
COLUMBIA, Md., July 10, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Rockpointe launches the first CME-certified course ever offered on Alexa through the AudioEducate platform with joint providers Potomac Center for Medical Education (PCME) and the Academy of Physicians in Clinical Research (APCR), a three-part series on the timely topic of patient informed consent, that is intended to give physicians a solid foundation from which to engage in clinical research.

In "Human Experimentation Part 1: What Entitles Physicians to Experiment on Fellow Humans?", participants learn about the underpinnings that permit medical professionals to perform experiments on their fellow human beings. This program reviews how ethical principles have evolved in clinical research to arrive at the current regulations embodied in the FDA-mandated "Good Clinical Practice" regulations and the informed consent process.
In "Part 2: Pathway to the Medicine Industrial Compliance Complex," Michael Koren, MD, the CEO and Director of the Jacksonville Center for Clinical Research and current APCR President, discusses our system of therapeutic development and the safeguards necessary when working with the industry. He also presents the rigorous requirements and conventions that have evolved through the FDA and others to not only protect patients, but to enhance the scientific integrity, public trust and, ultimately, the purposeful process of the clinical investigator that has led to innovation.
In "Part 3: Informed Consent: The Cornerstone of Medical Ethics," Dr. Koren discusses the implementation and process of engaging in the informed consent process with patient recruits.

AudioEducate is an Amazon Alexa skill designed for delivering accredited and non-accredited education programs using the latest interactive audio technology. This skill is currently available in the Amazon store and enabled on any Alexa device or smartphone. APCR members already have the log-in and password required to access the course on an Alexa device.
