R&W Rope Marks 40 Years in Business with Expanded Services and New Safety Technology

Founded in 1985, the company has grown steadily by offering quality rope products, personalized service, and expert knowledge to meet the needs of both professionals and hobbyists.

To mark this milestone, R&W Rope is announcing two important updates that reflect its ongoing commitment to safety, education, and service: the acquisition of The Rope Guru and the addition of the SCOPE machine, a rope inspection device using AI technology designed to help prevent line failure.

The Rope Guru, known for its expertise in supplying and splicing custom synthetic rope for the arborist, electrical utility, tug and barge, crane and other heavy lifting equipment markets as well as a myriad of other industrial and technical applications, will now operate as part of the R&W Rope team. The Rope Guru facility also houses a 50,000 lb capacity break test machine used to certify splices and proof load synthetic and chain slings. The addition of these capabilities strengthens R&W Rope's service portfolio to include in-depth rigging assessments, as well as product recommendations based on real-world application and proven techniques. Customers will also benefit from expanded support, training, and guidance.

In addition, R&W Rope recently added the SCOPE machine to its inspection and service offerings. Developed by Vision by Scope, it is one of only 17 currently in use across the United States. Powered by AI technology, the machine uses camera imaging and data analysis to assess the condition of pulling rope used in the electrical utility market —crucial to identifying internal wear or damage that may pose safety threats not caught through traditional manual inspection.

With this technology, R&W Rope now offers cutting-edge testing services that support safer practices in the field, help reduce expensive downtime, extend the life of rope products, and reduce the overall number of failures in the field.
