Ryan Abandoned and Unclaimed Property Associates Receive Prestigious Industry Awards
DALLAS, April 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ryan, a leading global tax services firm with the largest indirect and property tax practices in North America, is pleased to announce that three of its associates in the Abandoned and Unclaimed Property (AUP) practice have received awards from the Unclaimed Property Professionals Organization (UPPO). UPPO is the leading community and resource for unclaimed property compliance education, networking, advocacy, and reform.
Sam Schaunaman, Senior Manager, Abandoned and Unclaimed Property practice at Ryan, received a "Team Player" Award, which is presented to volunteers who serve on committees, work diligently on projects that advance the work of their committees, and help pull the team together to accomplish their goals. Mr. Schaunaman was selected for this award due to his activity on the UPPO Government Relations and Advocacy Committee (GRAC) for many years and for his recent speaking roles on two major UPPO webinars.
Justin Boroch and Jeffrey Pickel, both Senior Managers, Abandoned and Unclaimed Property practice at Ryan, received "Shining Star" Awards for "shining brightly to help guide the way." Mr. Boroch was selected based on his volunteer work with the UPPO On-Demand Webinar Subcommittee, which develops the online learning courses necessary for UPPO's professional certification program. Mr. Pickel was awarded in recognition of his five years as Chair of the UPPO Member Services Committee. During his tenure, membership grew by 25%, increasing UPPO's profile nationwide.
In addition, Christopher Jensen, Director, Abandoned and Unclaimed Property practice at Ryan, was recently elected and installed as Treasurer on the Organization's Board of Directors. He will hold this position as an officer of the organization through March 2019. Mr. Jensen had previously served as the Southern Regional Vice President since 2014 and chair of the UPPO Finance Committee since 2010.
Ryan associates were recognized during UPPO's annual conference in March for their hard work, dedication, and contribution to the success of UPPO and the unclaimed property profession throughout the past year.
