SABEResPODER and Bedoyecta® Have Joined Forces to Provide You With Information on the Health Benefits of Over the Counter Medicines and Vitamin Supplements!
Campaign includes health education pamphlets through SABEResPODER's Empowerment Network in Houston
HOUSTON, Sept. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- SABEResPODER and Bedoyecta® have joined forces to provide the Latino community with information about the importance of over the counter products in the U.S. This educational campaign also includes information about vitamins and supplements as well as information on how to properly take medicines that do not require a prescription.
The campaign will run in the city of Houston through SABEResPODER's community touchpoints. It is being launched in recognition of the growing presence of the Latino community and the need to help educate consumers on over the counter medicines and dietary supplements.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), "Mexican Americans and other Hispanic subgroups are low in many of the same micronutrients as the general population, with intakes of vitamin E, calcium, and zinc falling below Recommended Daily Allowances(a)." Both SABEResPODER and Bedoyecta realize this need and acknowledge the magnitude of available options and the requirement to educate the growing Hispanic market on the importance of over the counter medicines and dietary supplements such as vitamins. The campaign's mission is not only to inform, but also to create awareness of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It provides information on how to purchase medicines that do not require a prescription, what key questions to ask a doctor during a visit, and how to give the right dose of an over the counter medication to children.
"The partnership between SABEResPODER and Bedoyecta is aimed at empowering Latinos in the U.S. to understand the resources available which can help them take better care of themselves and their communities," said Amir Hemmat, President and CEO of SABEResPODER. "There are a lot of health products available over the counter. Giving consumers the information and tools they need to help find what may work best for them as well as guiding them on how to use those products is an important step in building healthier communities."
"The initiative to help educate the Latino community about their health and well-being is a natural fit with the mission of the Bedoyecta family of products which help promote a healthy lifestyle everyday," said Katherine Salazar, Associate Director, Consumer Medical Products of Valeant Pharmaceuticals North America, LLC. "We want to help increase awareness of the benefits that vitamin supplements offer and educate our consumers on how to use them properly to maintain their health."
Elements of the campaign include Over The Counter Health guides and video, educational health resource events, as well as samples and coupons.
