Safety Consulting Engineers, A DEKRA Insight Company, Announces Department of Transportation Approval for Explosives Examining & Testing
SCHAUMBURG, Ill., April 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Safety Consulting Engineers (SCE), a DEKRA Insight company, today announced that it has been approved as a Department of Transportation (DOT) PHMSA Competent Authority (CA2010040008) laboratory facility, valid through January 31, 2022. Under this authority, SCE may examine, test, and recommend explosives, energetics, and hazardous materials for DOT transportation classification 1-9.
SCE is one of only six authorized CA agencies in the US, and provides full-service Laboratory-scale up to Large-scale testing at their facilities. Receiving a Competent Authority Approval requires applicants to have their materials examined by an approved laboratory and examiners. DOT explosives testing performed at a laboratory that is not DOT approved will not be recognized by the DOT and the EX application will be denied.
SCE was first granted laboratory Competent Authority approval back in 1999, and has a staff of experts with over 150 years' combined experience with safely testing explosives, blasting agents and precursors, energetics, and hazardous materials.
