SagePoint Financial's Angela Martin Wins Advisor Group Women's Community Leadership Award

AUSTIN, Texas, May 1, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- News From: Advisor Group W Forum: Advisor Group, one of the nation's largest networks of independent financial advisory firms, today announced Angela Martin as the winner of the 2017 Women's Community Leadership Award, which was presented at the 11^th annual W Forum in Austin, TX. Martin, a financial advisor with SagePoint Financial, was recognized for her decade-long mentorship and service to the Girl Scouts of America.

Since 2007, Martin has donated more than 20 hours per month to her local Girl Scout troop, serving as a troop leader and service unit manager for the San Diego/Imperial Girl Scout Council. In this role, she oversees a network of 57 troops. She also serves as an Encampment Director where she leads a Camper Council of 36 girls and spearheaded a weekend of camping for 60 children.

"There's nothing more gratifying than watching young women grow and proudly provide service to their communities," Martin said. "I'm honored to have my work with the Girl Scouts recognized by my professional peers."  

In addition to her ongoing volunteerism, Martin also created several campaigns and activities in her Girl Scouts service unit, such as the "Giving Tree", an annual donation campaign that funds events for local scouts. She also helped nearly 20 girls earn their Bronze and Silver Awards by working with them to create a PSA for their local school, helping them conduct teen self-empowerment workshops and developing a program to strengthen the ties between the scouts and local senior citizens.

Established in 2013, the Advisor Group Women's Community Leadership Award is presented to a female advisor who has demonstrated outstanding commitment in helping women grow personally, professionally or financially.
