SAI Global Chairs Panel on Simplifying the Role of the Chief Compliance Officer at Compliance Week Annual Conference
PLAINSBORO, N.J., May 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- SAI Global Compliance, a worldwide leader in providing expertise, perspective, technology and tools in compliance, ethics and risk management solutions (GRC), will chair a high-profile panel at the seventh annual Compliance Week Conference for Financial, Legal, Risk, Audit & Compliance Officers which will be held on June 4-6, 2012 in Washington, D.C.
SAI Global's Senior Vice President of GRC Product Management, Colin Campbell, will chair a panel on "Using Technology to Simplify the Chief Compliance Officer's Job". Panelists Lamond Kearse, Metropolitan Transportation Authority, NY; Paul Robert, United Technologies Corporation; and David Baker, The Travelers Companies, will discuss how they've implemented new technology to help prioritize risks, get a global view of compliance activity, and focus on more strategic activities. SAI Global will also participate in roundtable discussions to discuss how modern corporations, with complex and multiple risks to monitor, can avoid drowning in data points but rather reap the benefits of technology to focus on analysis, decision-making and proactive measures.
Colin Campbell commented on the evolving nature of technology's use in the corporate compliance office by stating, "There's a wide range of technology in use today in global organizations. Some have embraced complete GRC technology solutions that integrate core compliance activities like policy and incident management with broader risk and audit management. Others are just beginning to see how they can maximize their stressed and stretched human and financial resources by using technology to deliver the charts, graphs, trend lines and other quantitative measures they need for decision-making instantly, without stress or multiple emails to offices around the world."
He continued his comments about the hesitancy of some organizations to embrace technology, "It's easy to think that the simple tools of the past, like email, spreadsheets and collaborative file sharing sites, provide the data needed by a compliance office. But that overlooks the type of analysis that's required by Boards and senior management today, and the amount of time it takes to gather data from multiple compliance offices around the world. We've found that once compliance officers see how web-based technology can not only give a single view into policies, incidents, training, regulatory updates and risk profiles but also pinpoint troublesome areas, they understand the value."
