Sam's Club® Offers Free Children's Health and ID Screenings

BENTONVILLE, Ark., June 29, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- With back-to-school time just around the corner and kids still taking advantage of long days off from school, Sam's Club is helping families by offering free children's health and ID screenings across the country on Saturday, July 9, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Every Sam's Club that has a pharmacy will be participating in the free screenings, which includes more than 500 locations in the U.S.

"Summer is the perfect time to take advantage of children's extra free time by scheduling health checkups," said Jill Turner-Mitchael, senior vice president of Sam's Club. "As the summer continues and kids are out playing, we know that safety is also important to parents, so Sam's Club is offering a special joint health and safety screening to help protect children in the event they are ever lost. At Sam's Club, we are proud to provide our members with quality health solutions for the entire family."

The children's screenings will include blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) and vision checks, in addition to fingerprint kits and DNA swabs. The tests, valued at $100, will be conducted by certified technicians from Carmen Ingle and Associates. Fingerprint kits will be administered by the in-club technician, while the DNA swab kit can be administered in-club or taken home by a parent.

Sam's Club Pharmacies provide members with access to a wide variety of valued products for all children's health needs, both over-the-counter and prescription. Sam's Club Optical has everything a family needs to maintain healthy vision, from lenses, frames and contacts to eye exams available from an independent Doctor of Optometry. The in-club children's health and ID screenings are sponsored by the following brands which will provide samples on-site:
