Sam's Club Supports Healthy Resolutions with Free "New Year, New You" Health Screening

BENTONVILLE, Ark., Jan. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sam's Club shows support for healthy resolutions by offering the public free "New Year, New You" health screenings, Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 11a.m. to 3p.m. The 2014 "New You" screening is the first of ten free monthly screenings available to the public at all Sam's Club locations with a pharmacy (581), which will take place the second Saturday of each month through October 2014.

Resolutions to live a healthy life, lose weight and stay fit are among the most common 2014 New Year's goals, according to a 2013 University of Scranton study. The January free screening program at Sam's Club encourages Americans to take preventive responsibility for their health by offering five, free preventive health tests. Each of these screenings can be tracked through the year.

The free screenings are available while supplies last, valued at up to $100 and include:

• Glucose
• Total cholesterol
• Blood pressure
• Body mass index (BMI)
• Vision screening/testing

"Last year, the program performed more than 896,000 free screenings over 10 monthly events in our clubs. Sam's Club offers amazing savings on pharmacist-administered flu shots and nine other immunizations, plus $4/$10 generic prescription prices to the public. Sam's Plus and Sam's Business members receive an additional eight percent on name-brand prescriptions, 40 percent on generics not part of the $4/$10 generic prescription program and access to the Extra Value Drug List, featuring 10 to 30 percent savings on dozens of name-brand and generic prescriptions.
