SAN JOSE, Calif., June 29 /PRNewswire/ -- In a bid to help more California small businesses grow and keep local workers on the job by selling their goods and services in global markets, the Export-Import Bank of the United States (Ex-Im Bank) has entered into a partnership with the Greater San Jose Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (GSJHCC).
Ex-Im Bank Western Regional Director David Josephson and GSJHCC Chairman Ruben Hernandez signed a partnership agreement at the Chamber's headquarters today, making GSJHCC the 58th member of Ex-Im Bank's City/State Partners Program.
As an Ex-Im Bank City/State Partner, GSJHCC can help local businesses learn about and apply for a range of Ex-Im Bank financing products, including short-term export-credit insurance to mitigate the risk of foreign buyer nonpayment, loan guarantees to increase export-related working capital, and medium-term financing for foreign buyers.
"Ex-Im Bank sees this partnership as a strategic part of helping achieve the goals of President Obama's National Export Initiative," said Josephson. "While GSJHCC is already well advanced on multiple export projects, Ex-Im Bank's financing tools offer potential for even larger volumes of exports from the area."
"Our relationship with Ex-Im Bank already has paid dividends to the GSJHCC, its members, and partner organizations involved in exporting U.S. goods and services," said GSJHCC Chairman Ruben Hernandez. "This new City-State partnership will enhance our ability to help California small businesses that want to grow through exports. The GSJHCC is looking forward to an exciting and fruitful partnership with Ex-Im Bank."
Ex-Im Bank is the official export-credit agency of the United States. The self-sustaining federal agency, now in its 76th year, helps create and maintain U.S. jobs by financing the sale of U.S. exports, primarily to emerging markets throughout the world. Over the past five years, Ex-Im Bank has helped 772 California firms in 222 communities finance over $7.96 billion in exports.
