San Jose Credit Union to Open November 5th for Special Saturday Hours
"Be Free" Promotion Kick-Off Coincides with "Bank Transfer Day"
SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 25, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- San Jose Credit Union will open special Saturday hours November 5th to coincide with Bank Transfer Day, a grass-roots effort for bank customers that has gained national media attention. Credit Union branches will be open 9 am to 2 pm for all financial services and hold a "Be Free" Promotion event with free food and prizes for the community.
The "Be Free" Promotion features the Credit Union's fee-free debit card. Each month during November and December, for every 10 debit card transactions, a member will receive an entry to win an iPad 2, or $500 cash (winner's choice).
"Our Debit Card and Checking account have always been free," Gina Skyllas, SJCU Business Development Representative commented. "We thought this was a good time and way to highlight this fact to our members and the community."
The Credit Union has had increased interest in its checking account and debit card since larger banks have announced they will start charging fees for customers to use debit cards, according to Andrea Brewer, SJCU President/CEO.
"Banks have had to look for other ways to make money under new Federal regulations," says Brewer. "But a Credit Union can better focus on what is best for members and provide similar account access with much fewer fees."
The Credit Union offers free online banking services and free access to over 28,000 nation-wide ATMs through the CO-OP Network. "We offer both high-tech convenience and a focus on service maintained for 80 years," says Brewer.
Branches will be open from 9 am to 2 pm for all financial services. In addition to free food, the Credit Union will have a spin wheel for prizes and a kid's area.
Branches are located at 140 Asbury St., San Jose, CA 95110 (near Taylor/San Pedro) and 88 South 4th Street, San Jose, CA 95112 (near City Hall in the 4th Street Garage).
