Sandestin Golf and Resort annouces the return of USTA's Quickstart Tennis program in August
DESTIN, FL, June 18 /PRNewswire/ - Sandestin Florida Tennis Resort, in association with the United States Tennis Association (USTA), hosted its first QuickStart program in May and will hold the program again this August. QuickStart Tennis is a new exciting instruction and play format for learning tennis for children under 12 years old.
The purpose of QuickStart Tennis is to introduce children to the game of tennis. The QuickStart Tennis format is a new way for children 12 and under to learn the game. Smaller court and racquet sizes, foam and decompressed balls, the simplified scoring system and lowered net height make tennis easier for children to play.
Sandestin Florida Tennis Resort was awarded a grant from USTA Florida "Share the Love" campaign, a $500,000 initiative to help fund tennis programs and projects throughout Florida communities during these challenging economic times.
Last month, Sandestin Tennis graduated 150 children from the QuickStart program. Participants received quality instruction at the Florida tennis camp, gained confidence on the court and left with a medal on completion of the program.
"Our recent Sandestin QuickStart camp was a success," Patrick Morris, head of junior programming, said. "In just four days of camp we had more than 250 junior players, 112 of whom were trying tennis for the first time."
QuickStart Tennis will be offered again every Wednesday in August. QuickStart Tennis program is free and open to the public. Camp participants receive Powerade, prizes and a Sandestin tee-shirt.
