LINCOLN, Neb., May 2, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- UNICO Group Inc., a Sandhills Global partner offering insurance solutions for the trucking, construction, agriculture, and other industries, has launched a new offering that accelerates the process of insuring newly purchased over-the-road (OTR) Class 7 and Class 8 trucks. The solution, called Short-Term Drive Home Coverage, is available now to commercial truck and trailer dealerships.

When purchasing a heavy-duty truck from a dealership, an OTR truck driver can obtain short-term insurance in order to drive the truck off of the lot. Ordinarily, it can take up to 10 days to acquire the necessary insurance, which can result in downtime and lost revenue for buyer and seller alike. UNICO's new solution, however, enables the truck buyer to obtain the required insurance much faster, typically within minutes, and drive the truck off the lot immediately thereafter.

Short-Term Drive Home Coverage provides quick and easy short-term insurance for newly purchased trucks. "Say, for instance, the buyer plans to lease onto a motor carrier and needs a short-term insurance solution to get it off the lot," says Darren Weber, Corporate Sales Executive for Sandhills Global. "With UNICO's new Drive Home Coverage, they can purchase that insurance on the spot, directly at the dealership."

Truck and trailer dealerships using the Sandhills Cloud (a web-based suite of hosted business solutions) can help the buyer complete and submit the required insurance form and obtain an instant price quote for short-term insurance. Credit card processing is included in the solution, enabling the buyer to pay for the insurance. Once the payment is submitted, an insurance certificate is emailed to the dealer and the buyer. "The certificate can be printed right at the dealership and leave with the truck," explains Weber. "There is nothing else like this out there, and Truck Paper is pleased to bring it to its dealers."
