Santa Margherita USA Inc. Announces Release of Three Italian Sparklers: Prosecco Superiore Brut DOCG, Sparkling Rosé and Single Vineyard Prosecco Superiore DOCG
MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Nov. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- National Italian wine importer, Santa Margherita USA Inc., has announced the release of three sparkling wines. Two bottlings, their Santa Margherita Prosecco Superiore Brut DOCG, and Santa Margherita Sparkling Rosé, re-enter the marketplace with a redesigned bottle, label and communications campaign, "Uncork Extraordinary". Their third, Santa Margherita "Rive di Refrontolo" Prosecco Superiore DOCG, a small production, single vineyard 2016 vintage, will debut for the first time in the United States.
Santa Margherita's winemaking tradition has a long-standing history in the production of sparkling wine, having made Prosecco in the Conegliano Valdobbiadene region since 1952, prior to even the region's official DOCG classification in 1969.

The impetus behind the label and bottle relaunch was the winery's desire to highlight both the company's proud history as a longtime Italian sparkling wine producer, and also give the wines a contemporary style, more recognizable to today's Santa Margherita consumer. Not only was a custom label designed, but a proprietary bottle, from a hand-crafted mold, was produced at the company's own glassworks factory. The front label's decorative seal is reminiscent of the iconic mosaic tiles found throughout Venice and Italy, a nod to the company's origin and wine's provenance, while the family crest, embossed on a cigar-band style label, wraps around the neck of the bottle, in homage to Santa Margherita founder Gaetano Marzotto.

Santa Margherita's Prosecco Superiore Brut DOCG, 100% Glera, has long been a benchmark for high-quality Prosecco Superiore, recognized for its clean and elegant taste and perlage. Santa Margherita Sparkling Rosé, predominantly Glera with a small addition of Malbec, is also a favorite for pairing with food and lifestyle occasions.
The third wine, "Rive di Refrontolo", from the Prosecco Superiore Valdobbiadene DOCG, is a single-vineyard Prosecco Superiore made from the winery's 52 parcels. The approximately 30 acres of the storied Rive di Refrontolo vineyard were acquired in 2011, one of only 43 specific vineyards within the Conegliano Valdobbiadene appellation. A vintage-dated Prosecco Superiore, this wine is extremely limited in production.
With the introduction of these three sparkling wines, Santa Margherita reaffirms its commitment to the sparkling wine category.
