Santrol Increases Permian Basin Investment by Expanding Proppant Terminal Footprint
Sweetwater terminal opening and Odessa terminal expansion increase customer efficiency
SUGAR LAND, Texas, Aug. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Santrol, a Fairmount Minerals' company, announced today the opening of the Sweetwater, Texas, proppant terminal and the expansion of the Odessa, Texas, proppant terminal in the booming Permian Basin. This increased infrastructure, with a total of six terminals now, ensures a continuous proppant supply closer to the wellhead and reduces proppant transportation cost in the west Texas-southeast New Mexico basin.
"Our continuing goal is to make our products available to our customers as close to the wellsite as possible, allowing them to more easily manage their sand trucking logistics," said Tom McCoy, director of Terminal Management for Fairmount Minerals. "With the ongoing activity in the Permian Basin, we're committed to expanding our terminal footprint so our customers can increase hydraulic fracturing efficiency."
Located on FM 419 with quick access to US Interstate 20, the Sweetwater terminal is receiving Santrol proppant via railroad 24/7. The favorable location, in the heart of the Permian Basin, allows oilfield services companies to pick up proppant conveniently.
The expanded Odessa terminal, about 130 miles southwest of the Sweetwater terminal and also centrally located in the basin, is now receiving an increased number of proppant shipments by rail. The terminal, on Loop 338, also has easy access for customers to US Interstate 20.
With all of the Permian Basin terminals and the terminals that are part of the FTS International (FTSI) proppant assets purchase agreement announced July 24, Santrol will have more than 45 US terminals supplying proppant for the hydraulic fracturing of vertical wells and horizontal wells.
